Devils team scope

The New Jersey Devils have lost five consecutive games, including 3-1 at the Ottawa Senators on Saturday. They also lost 5-0 against the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden last Sunday. The Devils have scored six goals during their five-game losing streak and have allowed 22. New Jersey is 3-9-3 in its past 15 games and have been outshot in 14 consecutive games. "You'd like to think to get out of something like this, it's not something you can wait or hope for things to happen," forward Michael Cammalleri said after the game. "You have to be proactive in working on habits and working on things that will allow you to be the team you want and the result chases you." The Devils are 4-11-4 on the road this season and are 3-1-1 in the second game of a back-to-back set this season.

Rangers team scope

Rangers coach Alain Vigneault announced Henrik Lundqvist will start in goal. Lundqvist has found his game again after going nine days, featuring four consecutive games, as a backup to Antti Raanta. Lundqvist comes back to the Garden after back-to-back strong starts in road wins against the Dallas Stars (27 saves in a 2-0 win) and Nashville Predators (31 saves in a 2-1 shootout win). Lundqvist didn't get the shutout at Dallas because he was replaced by Raanta for 5:31 in the first period after he had to leave the game briefly following a hit from Stars forward Cody Eakin. Raanta went 3-1-0 and allowed three goals on 89 shots (.966 save percentage) in his four consecutive starts before Lundqvist played in Dallas. Lundqvist needs one win to tie Dominik Hasek for the most wins by a European-born goalie in NHL history (388). The Rangers have won five of their past six games.
