Erin Wallace, a local Seattle illustrator, designed the jerseys.
"There's never going to be one way to display or represent women," Wallace
told the Kraken.
"I could think feminine-strong like a bird of prey, but I wanted to take obviously feminine in this stereotypical way and subvert it in a playful way. That's why I chose to draw a butterfly ... in my research, I came across folklore across the world, like a swarm of butterflies would often be seen as an omen. It's mythical like the Kraken."
