TAMPA --Andrei Vasilevskiy made 41 saves, and Alex Killorn scored twice when the Tampa Bay Lightning defeated the New Jersey Devils 5-3 in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference First Round at Amalie Arena on Saturday.
The Lightning lead the best-of-7 series 2-0. Game 3 is at New Jersey on Monday.

Nikita Kucherov had a goal and two assists, and Brayden Point had a goal and an assist for the Lightning, who scored four goals on 10 shots in the second period.
"When you look at them, they weren't particularly pretty goals," Killorn said. "A lot of times Kucherov or Steven] Stamkos is scoring on those shots, but when they don't, me and [J.T.] Miller try to be at the net and cause havoc. On the two that I scored today, I was just in the right place and Kucherov put it in a good spot for me."

Nico Hischier and Sami Vatanen scored for the Devils. Keith Kinkaid allowed five goals on 15 shots and was pulled at 13:12 of the second period for Cory Schneider who made 10 saves.
"We had seen enough pucks go into the back of the net and it's an opportunity for Cory to get in and in a game situation, in a difficult situation," New Jersey coach John Hynes said. "It was good to give him an opportunity to get in there and I thought he came in and made some huge saves, looked good, looked solid, so that's a positive for us moving forward."
Killorn gave the Lightning a 2-1 lead on the power play at 3:14 of the second period after Ben Lovejoy took a delay of game penalty. Tyler Johnson made it 3-1 at 4:36 with a tip-in from the hash marks off a shot by Ryan McDonagh. Kucherov scored for a 4-1 lead when he shot the puck toward the net and Vatanen accidentally kicked it past Kinkaid at 6:01.

Killorn's second power-play goal, the fourth goal of the second period, made it 5-1 off a centering feed from Kucherov at 13:12 after Kyle Palmieri was called for unsportsmanlike conduct.
"Getting those goals there on the [power play] is big," Johnson said. "The [power play] is out there to at least get you the momentum, but any time you can get a goal or two like we did, that's huge."
Vatanen made it 5-2 at 19:34 of the second period, and Blake Coleman scored on a one-timer to make it 5-3 at 11:57 of the third period. The Devils could have gotten within one goal, but a video review at 16:46 determined a shot by Miles Wood did not completely cross the goal line.
"We came out in the third and played the right way," Devils captain Andy Greene said. "We have to do that in the first and go from there. We can't have these three-, four-, five-minute lapses in periods against a good team that took advantage of it, and we just can't have those kind of mistakes in this series."
Point gave the Lightning a 1-0 lead, scoring his first Stanley Cup Playoff goal at 12:15 of the first period.
"I was just so excited to put one in," he said. "It's kind of a feeling I can't explain. It was a great play by Johnson to get it to [Ondrej] Palat and he found me in open ice on the wing."
Hischier tied it 1-1 with his first NHL playoff goal at 13:38 of the first.
Lightning forward Ryan Callahan sustained an upper-body injury in the second period and did not return. Defenseman Dan Girardi didn't play in the third period.
"That was a little bit of an issue for us, too, we dropped down to five defensemen and 11 forwards," Tampa Bay coach Jon Cooper said. "It kind of changed things, a little bit, obviously for us. But no update yet."

They said it

"It goes back to [New Jersey] and we have our home building, we have our crowd, and we have an opportunity to get the matchups that we would like. That's all part of the series. Have to regroup and make sure we're a better team on Monday."-- Devils coach John Hynes
"What was [New] Jersey's goal? Probably to split. OK, they didn't. Our goal was to take them both. We did. Now what do we have to go up? We got to go up there and dig our heels and get one. Love to get them both. That's going to be our plan." -- Lightning coach Jon Cooper
