NJD@VGK: Pacioretty deflects shot past Kinkaid

LAS VEGAS -- Malcolm Subban made 36 saves, and the Vegas Golden Knights extended their winning streak to a season-high six games with a 3-2 victory against the New Jersey Devils at T-Mobile Arena on Sunday.

Ryan Reaves, Brayden McNabb and Max Pacioretty scored for Vegas (26-15-4), which has earned at least a point in nine straight games (7-0-2) and in 11 consecutive home games (9-0-2). Subban is 2-0-0 with a .957 save percentage in his past two starts after losing his previous five.
"It felt great," Subban said after his first home start this season. "Anytime you can win at home, we were definitely the better team for most of the game, so I think we deserved this win."

Ben Lovejoy had a goal and an assist, Nico Hischier scored, and Keith Kinkaid made 25 saves for New Jersey (16-18-7), which has lost two of its past three games.
Pacioretty gave Vegas a 3-2 lead at 15:46 of the second period. He has scored the game-winning goal in consecutive games since returning to the lineup after missing seven games with a lower-body injury.
"It's obvious we have a lot of confidence right now. We don't want to get too comfortable," Pacioretty said. "For Subban to go in there and play the way he did, it's really nice to see him get rewarded. He's been great all year. For him to get [two] in a row, it's been nice to see him get rewarded."
Hischier scored at 5:06 of the first period to give the Devils a 1-0 lead, and Lovejoy made it 2-0 at 9:37.

NJD@VGK: Hischier beats Subban for opening goal

"Tough start there with a couple of goals (on first five shots), but the boys brought it back and persevered," Subban said. "I didn't get too much the rest of the game. A lot of the stuff came from the outside. Can't complain as a goaltender."
Reaves cut it to 2-1 at 12:30, forcing Devils forward Pavel Zacha into a turnover before scoring five-hole. Reaves set an NHL career high in goals (eight) and points (14) on the play.

"I thought we had a good first period," Devils coach John Hynes said. "And in the second, they made some pushes and we got a little bit sloppy."
McNabb tied it 2-2 at 11:17 of the second period on a shot from the point. Originally ruled no goal for goalie interference on Ryan Carpenter, Golden Knights coach Gerard Gallant challenged the play, and the call was reversed after a video review.
"There's going to be momentum throughout the game and it's how we handle it," Devils captain Andy Greene said. "You stick with it until the end. Sometimes, we get too stubborn."

They said it

"If you really look at the game, it was an even game. They got one more goal, they got one more save than we got. At the end of the day, we're playing good teams. They're going to make pushes, too. They were one goal better than us tonight, but if you look collectively, that's what happened." -- Devils coach John Hynes
"It's the depth, it's the attitude, it's the type of guys we have in this room. It seems as if no matter who goes down, this team finds way. It goes back to last year … it just seems like that next man up mentality is the culture here, and it's carried over from last year and it's really nice for me to be a part of." -- Golden Knights forward Max Pacioretty
