Vanecek's new mask has the Devils logo on top -- inspired by Resch's mask -- with red and black streaks around the rest of the helmet -- inspired by Brodeur's mask.
Brodeur sported a similarly designed mask when he played for the Devils from 1991-2014, where he won three Stanley Cups. He was elected to the Hall of Fame in 2018 and currently serves as executive vice president of hockey operations for the Devils.
Resch played for the Devils from 1980-1986, including two years when the franchise was still in Colorado.
Vanecek said he plans to wear the mask for a few games before getting it signed by Brodeur and Resch, then retiring it.
"We asked and they (Brodeur and Resch) said it's a good idea and that I can wear it," Vanecek
told the Devils
. "I'm really happy they did that, I think it's really nice to be able to pay homage. I'm really happy about it."
"They are both legends."
