After a 3-12-4 stretch that eliminated New York from contention for the Stanley Cup Playoffs, the Islanders have back-to-back wins against the Philadelphia Flyers and New York Rangers. A victory against the Red Wings would give New York its their first three-game winning streak since Jan. 7-15.
Islanders center John Tavares, who can become an unrestricted free agent on July 1, has 83 points (36 goals, 47 assists), three shy of his NHL career high set in 2014-15.
Detroit is 0-1-1 after a three-game winning streak. The Red Wings are 6-15-3 since Feb. 18 and will finish with their worst record since they were 28-38-14 in 1989-90.
