Doughty, Iafallo spark Kings past Islanders

LOS ANGELES -- The Los Angeles Kings scored four goals in the second period and extended their point streak to seven games with a 5-2 win against the New York Islanders at Crypto.com Arena on Tuesday.

Drew Doughty and Alex Iafallo each scored on the power play for Los Angeles, which is 6-0-1 in its past seven games and remained three points behind the Vegas Golden Knights for first place in the Pacific Division. Vegas won 5-3 at the Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday.
"We know that getting into the playoffs is super important, but we have a really good team to push for that top spot," Kings forward Trevor Moore said.
Blake Lizotte and Quinton Byfield also scored for Los Angeles (39-20-9), who went 2-for-2 on the power play. Joonas Korpisalo made 26 saves; he is 3-0-0 since being acquired in a trade from the Columbus Blue Jackets on Feb. 28.

Pierre Engvall and Jean-Gabriel Pageau scored for New York (34-27-8), which has lost its past two games after a 4-0-1 stretch. Ilya Sorokin made 32 saves.
"It didn't go as planned there in the second," Engvall said. "Obviously, it's something we want to do better."
The Islanders remained two points behind the Pittsburgh Penguins for the first wild card into the Stanley Cup Playoffs from the Eastern Conference. The Penguins lost 6-4 to the Montreal Canadiens on Tuesday.
Engvall gave New York a 1-0 lead at 11:45 of the first period. He chased down Ryan Pulock's dump in and scored with a wrist shot from the high slot that went in off Korpisalo's glove.
Lizotte tied it 1-1 with a redirection of Sean Walker's shot from the left point at 1:54, and Doughty gave Los Angeles a 2-1 lead at 6:06 with a one-timer from the left circle during a two-man advantage.
Iafallo made it 3-1 at 7:06 on the power play, tapping a loose puck into an open net after Viktor Arvidsson hit the post.
"Let's face it, we didn't reinvent the power play," Kings coach Todd McLellan said. "We just got a little sharper, a little faster. … Today we moved the puck a little quicker, and (against) a pretty good penalty kill on that squad."

Moore made it 4-1 at 12:14 on a wrist shot from the slot.
"I think we have to play that way if we want to go deep [in the playoffs]," Moore said. "You look at teams who do go deep and it's not one or two lines. You need everybody all 60 [minutes], all four lines."
Pageau, who missed 12 games with an upper-body injury, cut it to 4-2 at 17:02 with a redirection of Sebastian Aho's shot from the point two seconds after a power play expired.
Pageau was upset with himself at losing track of Iafallo on what turned out to be the game-winning goal.
"I'll look myself in the mirror and I think I have to be better, so I'll be better tomorrow," he said.
Byfield scored an empty-net goal at 19:07 of the third period for the 5-2 final.
New York went 0-for-3 with the man-advantage.
