Kevin Hayes scored a power-play goal at 4:22 of overtime, and Joel Farabee got his first NHL hat trick for the Philadelphia Flyers in their fourth straight win, 4-3 against the New York Islanders at Wells Fargo Center on Sunday.

Hayes scored on a one-timer from above the left hash marks after the Islanders rallied to tie it with two goals in the third period.
James van Riemsdyk had four assists for the Flyers (7-2-1), who defeated the Islanders 3-2 in overtime Saturday after giving up a two-goal lead in the second period. Brian Elliott made 33 saves.
Philadelphia has won seven of its first 10 games for the first time since 2008-09.
"Everyone knows that our 5-on-5 play hasn't been great, but we've gotten two points in four consecutive games," Hayes said. "Obviously you need to work on things when you're not happy with your team play, but you can't be too upset when you're getting two points every single night.
"I thought tonight was our best 60-minute effort in a long time. I know we gave up a two-goal lead, but ultimately we didn't break and we won again in overtime."
Farabee, a forward, scored three goals in a span of 17:10 across the first two periods. He is the third player in Flyers history to score a hat trick before his 21st birthday, joining
Eric Lindros
(four times) and
Mike Richards
. Farabee turns 21 on Feb. 25.
"I feel really good about my game right now," Farabee said.

Enterprise Hat Trick: Farabee nets three vs. Isles

Josh Bailey and Mathew Barzal scored in the third period for the Islanders (3-4-2), who came back from 3-1 but lost their fifth in a row (0-3-2). Nick Leddy also scored, and Ilya Sorokin made 25 saves.
Sorokin has lost his first three NHL starts, allowing 11 goals.
"I'm taking the positive out of it," New York coach Barry Trotz said. "We're sitting there after two periods and [with] the way the week has gone, we could've just said, 'Let's get out of here,' and give up. We didn't. We battled back. I thought they uplifted each other. I felt we were going to get two points, I really did."
New York's comeback started with Bailey's first goal of the season at 1:03 of the third period to make it 3-2.
Barzal tied it 3-3 at 6:27 with a one-timer off the rush after Anders Lee outraced Flyers defenseman Justin Braun to the puck in the corner and delivered a pass to the Islanders center in between the hash marks.
"We had a pretty good response to find a way to tie that game up," Lee said. "It wasn't as complete game as we would have liked, but at the end of the day we climb out of a hole that we dug ourselves in and found ourselves with an opportunity to get that second point."

NYI@PHI: Barzal, Lee hustle to tie it

But Barzal went to the penalty box for the second time in the game when his stick grazed the face of Flyers forward Scott Laughton at 3:40 of overtime.
Claude Giroux collected a rebound in the left circle and delivered a backhand pass to Hayes for the game-winner.
"It was kind of a broken play off of a shot," Hayes said. " … I was expecting him to shoot. He made a great pass and luckily it went in."
Farabee's first two goals came off clean shots that beat Sorokin; the first on his glove side from the right circle at 18:42 of the first period gave Philadelphia a 1-0 lead; the second on his blocker side from the left circle at 2:19 of the second period made it 2-1.
Leddy scored his first of the season with a wrist shot through traffic on the power play 38 seconds into the second period to tie it 1-1.
Farabee completed the hat trick with a deflection of Philippe Myers' point shot at 15:52 of the second to give Philadelphia a 3-1 lead.
"I felt something hit my pants, I wasn't sure if it was the stick or the puck," Farabee said. "Either way, it was a great play by van Riemsdyk
