The unrestricted free against said if he does play this season, it will only be for the Islanders. He had 34 points (21 goals, 13 assists) in 2022-23 and played all 82 games in each of his two seasons with New York.

NHL Tonight on Islanders free agent signings

They said it

"Our ownership has given us every resource and every possible thing that we need to do it. It's on us to do that. We have to get better. I have to get better. Our coaching staff has to get better, and our players have to get better, and the inconsistency has to be taken care of."-- general manager Lou Lamoriello

Fantasy focus

Across his first three seasons in the NHL, goalie Ilya Sorokin has been consistent with a save percentage of at least .918 in every season. Last season with the Islanders, Sorokin had a .924 save percentage, a 31-22-7 record and was a finalist for the Vezina Trophy. He has proven himself to be a top three goalie in fantasy drafts and heading into next season should be viewed as the best fantasy goalie option given his high floor.-- Anna Dua
