is out for the remainder of this season after the New York Rangers defenseman had core muscle repair surgery Friday.

The 34-year-old averaged 16:58 of ice time in 13 games for New York. Johnson last played March 9, when he scored his only goal in a 4-2 loss against the Pittsburgh Penguins. He is expected make a full recovery by July and can become an unrestricted free agent after this season.
Johnson has scored 303 points (71 goals, 232 assists) in 950 NHL games for the Rangers, Pittsburgh Penguins, Columbus Blue Jackets and Los Angeles Kings.
