Kravtsov, who signed a one-year contract with the Rangers on June 12, 2022, can become a restricted free agent after this season.
The 23-year-old forward has six points (three goals, three assists) in 28 games this season. He and fellow forward Jake Leschyshyn were scratched for roster management reasons by the Rangers in their past two games, including a 6-3 loss to the Washington Capitals on Saturday.
"It gives him a fresh opportunity," New York coach Gerard Gallant said. "He was a good kid here. He came and he worked hard every day with us, and it's just an opportunity for our team. 'Kravy's' moving on, and I wish him nothing but the best because he really worked hard, and he tried this year and we just couldn't find a spot in our lineup for him."

Canucks coach Rick Tocchet said Kravtsov is expected to meet the team Sunday in Dallas for their game against the Stars on Monday.
"I think he's got a lot of upside, so I'm anxious to see what he can bring for us," Tocchet said. "He's got a lot of tools, I heard. I haven't really watched a lot of him play, more from other people.
"I don't know that the deal was there (in New York), what happened, but he's got a new lease on life. Now it's his opportunity to take it and see where he goes with it."
Last season, Kravtsov was assigned to the Rangers' American Hockey League affiliate in Hartford after not making the opening-night roster. That came after he had 13 points (six goals, seven assists) in 19 games for Chelyabinsk of the Kontinental Hockey League, and four points (two goals, two assists) in 20 games for the Rangers in 2020-21.
Selected by New York in the first round (No. 9) of the 2018 NHL Draft, Kravtsov has 10 points (five goals, five assists) in 48 NHL games.
Lockwood, 24, has split this season between the Canucks and Abbotsford of the AHL. Lockwood has an assist in 13 NHL games, and 18 points (12 goals, six assists) in 26 AHL games.
