Newhook close copter

The Stanley Cup reached some new heights this summer.

Colorado Avalanche forward Alex Newhook took the trophy on a helicopter ride as part of his day-long celebration in his hometown of St. John's, Newfoundland.

Newhook made sure to belt the Cup in and even gave it some protective headphones to wear because, safety first.

Newhook started the day by taking the Cup to his old stomping grounds around town.

Hew also hit all the main sights.

There was of course a midday parade and party.

He also had his dinner out of the Cup. Fish and chips was on the menu.

Newhook also wound up a guest referee at the "Newy Cup," a ball hockey game which featured Team Newfoundland vs. Team Mainland.

After the game, the winning team was presented with the Cup.

The Cup is meant for champions, after all.
