BLUE JACKETS ERUPT FOR 10 GOALS IN SHUTOUT OF CANADIENS

* Columbus also became the first team to have a shutout and score at least 10 goals since Jan. 2, 1996, when the Calgary Flames defeated the Tampa Bay Lighting 10-0.
* Prior to Friday, the Blue Jackets' record for goals in a game was eight, last achieved on Nov. 10, 2010, when they defeated the Blues 8-1. That game also set the previous franchise record for largest margin of victory.
* Montreal had allowed 13 goals in its first 10 games of the season.

A closer look at Columbus' offensive outburst:
* In total, 16 of 18 skaters had a point, including multiple-point efforts by eight players: Alex Wennberg (0-4-4), Josh Anderson (2-1-3), Nick Foligno (2-1-3), Cam Atkinson (2-0-2), Scott Hartnell (2-0-2), Seth Jones (1-1-2), Zach Werenski (0-2-2) and William Karlsson (0-2-2).
* The Elias Sports Bureau notes that the Blue Jackets became the first team to have four players each score multiple goals in a game since the Flames on Feb. 10, 1993, vs. against the San Jose Sharks (Robert Reichel: 3, Ronnie Stern: 3, Gary Suter: 2 and Gary Roberts: 2).
* The Blue Jackets went 4-for-5 on the power play to improve their League-leading average to 44.0 percent (11-for-25). It was the first time they scored four man-advantage goals in a game since getting four at the Nashville Predators on Dec. 22, 2011.
* Sergei Bobrovsky made 30 saves for his 15th career shutout. He shares the League lead with three shutouts this season (9 GP), matching his combined total from the past two seasons (88 GP).

JETS STAGE ANOTHER RALLY

The Winnipeg Jets scored four times in the third period, including the tying and go-ahead goals by Brandon Tanev (his first two career goals), to rally past the Red Wings at Joe Louis Arena and halt a three-game skid (0-2-1).
* Nikolaj Ehlers (1-3-4) set career highs for assists and points in a game. Mark Scheifele (1-2-3) and Patrik Laine (1-1-2) also scored. Laine shares the League lead with seven goals (he's tied with Artem Anisimov of the Chicago Blackhawks and Steven Stamkosof the Lightning).
* The Jets, who tied the game three times, have overcome a deficit to earn at least a point four times this season. In the other three instances, Winnipeg erased a three-goal deficit in the third period: Oct. 13 vs. the Carolina Hurricanes (trailed 4-1; won 5-4 in OT), Oct. 19 vs. the Toronto Maple Leafs (trailed 4-1; won 5-4 in OT) and Nov. 3 vs the Washington Capitals (trailed 3-0; lost 4-3 in OT).

HIGHLIGHTS OF A 13-GAME SATURDAY

* A matinee between the Colorado Avalanche and Minnesota Wild on SN begins a 13-game Saturday in the NHL. Hockey Night in Canada coverage continues later in the day when the Canadiens host the surging Philadelphia Flyers on CITY; the Ottawa Senators, who have shut out their opponents in three of their past five games, welcome the Buffalo Sabres on SN360 and SN1; Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers visit Barclays Center to face the New York Islanders on SN; Auston Matthews and the Maple Leafs welcome the Vancouver Canucks on CBC; and the nightcap features the Flames at the Los Angeles Kings on CBC.
