Alex Stalock made his first start since sustaining a concussion Nov. 1 when the Blackhawks hosted the Columbus Blue Jackets on Friday.
The goalie was activated off injured reserve Monday. He was injured when he collided with New York Islanders forward Casey Cizikas 2:54 into a 3-1 loss. Coach Luke Richardson was confident Stalock's return would provide a boost.
"Even when he's not perfect, he has a sense of humor about it. He just embraces what he is, and the guys like it," Richardson said. "The guys like him. He's a battler out there, brings a little comedy to the professional that he is because he works his butt off in practice every day. Every shot, he's trying to stop. If someone hoots and hollers that they got a good one, he gets sarcastic, 'Oh, yeah, that was really good.' Do-it-in-a-game type thing. It's nice to have him back and I think it'll be uplifting for the rest of the guys." -- Tracey Myers
