Adam Henrique was placed on waivers by the Ducks on Saturday.
The center has scored four points (three goals, one assist) and has a minus-8 rating in 16 games this season and was a healthy scratch in a 4-1 loss to the St. Louis Blues on Jan. 31.
"It's a tough day, he's not in this alone," Ducks coach Dallas Eakins said Saturday. "It's a day of great adversity, but this isn't a 'Give up, you're done here' either. If he's still with our organization, we and I are never going to ever give up on a guy."
Henrique led the Ducks in scoring with 43 points and was first with 26 goals in 71 games last season. He has scored 20 goals five times, including an NHL career-high 30 for the New Jersey Devils in 2015-16.
The Ducks, who host the Minnesota Wild on Saturday (9 p.m. ET; ESPN+, PRIME, FS-SD, FS-N, FS-WI, NHL.TV), have scored two or fewer goals in 13 of 17 games this season, and rank last in goals per game in the League (1.88).
"Let's be very clear on one thing, it's just not Adam," Eakins said. "We've had a number of players take great strides and are taking over the game. And we have a number of players that are, for whatever reason, we'll call it stuck in mud, and we can't really pinpoint it because we've got some guys that are doing very, very well. right now. And we have three or four that are stuck." -- Dan Arritt
