Kasperi Kapanen is week to week with a lower-body injury.
The forward was injured in a 5-2 win against the Buffalo Sabres on Wednesday after taking a puck off his ankle in the second period.
Kapanen was among several injured forwards who did not play when the Penguins defeated the Sabres 4-0 on Thursday. Evgeni Malkin (lower body), Jason Zucker (lower body), Brandon Tanev (upper body) and Teddy Blueger (upper body) also were out.
"We've got enough in our lineup each and every night, we believe that, to win games in this league consistently," Penguins coach Mike Sullivan said. "That's our expectation. That's how we're going to look at it."
In Malkin's most recent game, he was second-line center with Kapanen at right wing and Tanev at left wing, against the Boston Bruins on March 16.
"It is what it is," Sullivan said. "We've got a number of forwards out right now. It's going to provide opportunities for others to step up."
Kapanen scored 21 points (seven goals, 14 assists) in 30 games this season. He had one assist in four games since Malkin was injured after scoring 10 points (four goals, six assists) in his previous nine games.-- Wes Crosby
