Welcome to the NHL Buzz. Throughout the 2021-22 season, NHL.com will have you covered with the latest news.

Edmonton Oilers

Tyson Barrie was placed on injured reserve by the Oilers with an upper-body injury.
The defenseman left in the second period of a 4-3 overtime loss to the Chicago Blackhawks on Thursday and did not play in a 5-2 loss to the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday.
Barrie has scored 23 points (three goals, 20 assists) in 49 games this season.
Goalie Mike Smith (flu) will not play at the Calgary Flames on Monday (9:30 p.m. ET; SN1, SNW, ESPN+, NHL LIVE). Stuart Skinner was recalled from Bakersfield of the American Hockey League on Monday and will back up Mikko Koskinen.
Forwards Josh Archibald and Zach Kassian practiced Monday. Archibald has not played this season because of a heart condition (myocarditis), Kassian hasn't played since breaking his jaw on Feb. 9.

Detroit Red Wings

Jakub Vrana could make his season debut for the Red Wings against the Arizona Coyotes on Tuesday (7:30 p.m. ET; ESPN+, HULU, NHL LIVE).
The forward injured his shoulder during training camp and had surgery.
Vrana, who practiced on a line with Pius Suter and Robby Fabbri on Monday, scored 11 points (eight goals, three assists) in 11 games after he was acquired by the Red Wings in a trade with the Washington Capitals last season.

Pittsburgh Penguins

Teddy Blueger will be a game-time decision for the Penguins against the Florida Panthers on Tuesday (7 p.m. ET; SNE, SNO, SNP, ATTSN-PT, BSFL, ESPN+, NHL LIVE).
The forward has missed 16 games with a fractured jaw since last playing in a 3-2 shootout win against the Winnipeg Jets on Jan. 23. Blueger had surgery Jan. 24, and was expected to be sidelined 6-8 weeks.
"It just creates a deeper lineup, a more balanced lineup," coach Mike Sullivan said regarding Blueger's potential return. "Gives us the ability to play guys in certain situations that help them play to their strengths."
Blueger said he plans to play with a full face shield he's used since first practicing Feb. 22. He practiced at fourth-line center with left wing Zach Aston-Reese and right wing Brock McGinn on Monday.
Blueger has scored 17 points (eight goals, nine assists) in 40 games.
"I think everything that I've done leading up to [returning], all the contact, the puck protection, all that stuff has felt really good," Blueger said. "For me, whatever role I'm put in, that's my job and that's what I'm going to focus on." -- Wes Crosby

Tampa Bay Lightning

Zach Bogosian could return to the lineup for the Lightning against the Winnipeg Jets on Tuesday (8 p.m. ET; TSN3, BSSUN, ESPN+, NHL LIVE).
The defenseman has missed 15 games with a lower-body injury sustained in a 3-1 win against the Dallas Stars on Jan. 15. He practiced with the team Monday.
Bogosian has scored six points (two goals, four assists) in 23 games this season.

Philadelphia Flyers

Kevin Connauton will not play for the Flyers against the Vegas Golden Knights on Tuesday (7 p.m. ET; TVAS, NBCSP, ATTSN-RM, ESPN+, NHL LIVE) because of an upper-body injury.
The defenseman sustained the injury when he was checked into the boards by Chicago Blackhawks forward Kirby Dach during the third period of a 4-3 win Saturday and left the game with 8:59 remaining.
"He's doing better today; a lot better," Flyers coach Mike Yeo said Monday. "I'm not sure what the timeline is for him. He's not going to play tomorrow but I do think there's a chance he could get on the ice [which is] real positive. I saw him here yesterday and he felt good yesterday. That was a pretty scary moment but glad he's doing well."
Connauton has scored no points and averaged 12:46 in ice time in 14 games with the Flyers since being claimed off waivers from the Florida Panthers on Dec. 7. -- Adam Kimelman

Vancouver Canucks

Tucker Poolman could return to the lineup when the Canucks host the Montreal Canadiens on Wednesday (10:30 p.m. ET; TNT, SNP, TSN2, RDS, NHL LIVE).
The defenseman hasn't played since Jan. 27, when he left after the first period of a 5-1 win against the Winnipeg Jets with what the team later said was migraine headaches. He has missed 14 games but started skating on his own when the team was on a four-game road trip last week and rejoined the Canucks at practice Monday.
"From what I've gathered he came away from it okay," coach Bruce Boudreau said. "He was a little tentative at the beginning, but I thought by the end he was getting back to normal."
Poolman has scored three points (one goal, two assists) and a plus-3 rating while averaging 17:19 in ice time in 39 games this season. -- Kevin Woodley
