NHL community mourns three Surrey junior hockey players killed in crash

The NHL and several teams expressed condolences to the families of three junior hockey players who died in a car accident Saturday.

Caleb Reimer, 16; Parker Magnuson, 17; and Ronin Sharma, 16, were killed when the car they were driving in crashed into a tree, according to the Surrey Now-Leader. Each was from Surrey, British Columbia and played with the Delta Hockey Academy program.
"The NHL sends its love and deepest condolences to the families of junior hockey players Caleb Reimer, Ronin Sharma and Parker Magnuson who tragically passed away in a car accident on Saturday," the League said in a statement.
"Rest in peace boys."

Reimer, who had been selected by Edmonton of the Western Hockey League with the No. 18 pick of the 2019 WHL draft, scored five points (three goals, two assists) in 19 games last season. He also scored two points (one goal, one assist) with Delta's Under-18 team.
"Our thoughts, prayers & love are with our #OilKings family during this incredibly difficult time," the Edmonton Oilers wrote on Twitter. The Oilers ownership group also owns Edmonton of the WHL.

Magnuson scored two points (one goal, one assist) in five games with Delta's Under-17 team last season.
Sharma last played in 2019-20 when he led Delta's 15-year-old team with 43 points (17 goals, 26 assists) in 36 games. He was committed to play for Langley of the British Columbia Hockey League this season after being unable to play last season because of concerns surrounding the coronavirus.
