BUFFALO -- Right wing Patrik Laine, the projected No. 2 pick in the 2016 NHL Draft, felt discomfort in his left knee while doing the VO2 max bike test on Friday and will be limited to upper-body testing on Saturday, the final day of the NHL Scouting Combine at HarborCenter.
Laine, who had surgery on his left knee in 2013, said he began feeling the discomfort in his leg eight minutes into the VO2 test, when the resistance on the bike is at its highest. The VO2 bike test measures a player's endurance. Laine, No. 2 on NHL Central Scouting's final ranking of international skaters eligible for the 2016 draft, is expected to be selected by the Winnipeg Jets, who hold the No. 2 pick.
