Howe said his father and Hull were friendly off the ice and reminisced about family summer vacations to the Hull family ranch outside Belleville, Ontario, and fishing for catfish with Hull's father.
Howe also got to be a stick boy for visiting teams when they would come to Detroit, and when the Blackhawks would come to town he'd usually end up with a stick or two from Hull.
Looking up to Hull is a big reason the Blackhawks jersey remains his favorite.
"My dad was my dad," Howe said. "My dad was not a great hockey player and wasn't a Red Wing, he was just Gordie Howe, my father. The experiences I had with Bobby Hull … just seeing the jersey, maybe it was the way with his golden hair flying down the ice, the way he used to wind up and do different things. To this day, I love the white Blackhawks jersey."
