The coverage begins tomorrow, December 21 with live telecasts of the pre-competition matchups between Sweden vs. USA at 2:30 p.m. ET, followed by Canada vs. Slovakia at 6:30 p.m. ET. NHL Network will preview the 2023 tournament and players to watch on NHL Tonight: 2023 World Junior Championship Preview on Sunday, December 25 at 6 p.m. ET hosted by Tony Luftman and featuring analysis from E.J. Hradek and Dave Starman. The preview show will include a recap on the August 2022 World Junior Championship, plus NHL Network's Jon Morosi will voice multiple Team USA features, including a preview of the current American roster and tournament, along with individual features on 2023 U.S. National Junior Team head coach Rand Pecknold, University of Minnesota forward and St. Louis Blues prospect Jimmy Snuggerud, and University of Michigan defenseman and New Jersey Devils prospect Luke Hughes.
A quadruple header will mark the first day of the tournament, including back-to-back matchups between USA vs. Latvia at 4 p.m. ET and Canada vs. Czechia at 6:30 p.m. ET on Monday, December 26. NHL Network's Stephen Nelson will provide play-by-play for each Team USA game along with longtime NCAA hockey analyst Dave Starman and reporter Jon Rosen. The Discover NHL Winter Classic®, one of the most anticipated events of each NHL season, will be covered live by NHL Network's NHL Tonight and NHL On The Fly, with segments from Boston's Fenway Park on Sunday, January 1 during the Boston Bruins and Pittsburgh Penguins' practice day. New Hampshire native Jamison Coyle will be joined by NHL Network's Jamie Hersch, E.J. Hradek, Mike Rupp and Kevin Weekes during pre- and post-game coverage for the Discover NHL Winter Classic on Monday, January 2.
