'NHL Network Showcase': 3 Storylines for Senators vs. Jets

The Ottawa Senators and Winnipeg Jets conclude a two-game set at Bell MTS Place on Saturday (3 p.m. ET; NHLN, CBC, SN, TVAS, NHL.TV) in the "NHL Network Showcase presented by SAP."

The Senators (2-12-1) started a five-game road trip with a 5-1 loss to the Jets on Thursday, their fourth consecutive loss in regulation. The Senators are last in the NHL with five points and 0-3-1 against Winnipeg this season while being outscored 19-8.
The Jets (8-4-1) are 3-1-1 in their past five games and are fourth in the Scotia North Division.

Stopping Scheifele

Jets center Mark Scheifele has a five-game point streak (two goals, five assists), tying his season high set from Jan. 19-26 (two goals, seven assists), and has scored points in 11 of 13 games this season. He leads Winnipeg with 17 points (five goals, 12 assists), and in scoring against Ottawa with nine points (two goals, seven assists).

Searching for scoring

The Senators have scored two goals or fewer in 10 of their 15 games and are averaging 2.13 goals per game, 29th in the NHL. Forward Brady Tkachuk has one assist in his past six games. Defenseman Thomas Chabot and forward Tim Stutzle each has gone four games without a point.

Dubois status

Center Pierre-Luc Dubois is likely to play his third game for the Jets despite leaving practice Friday after feeling some tightness. Dubois is looking for his first point for the Jets. He was acquired in a trade with the Columbus Blue Jackets on Jan. 23, along with a third-round pick in the 2022 NHL Draft, for forwards Patrik Laine and Jack Roslovic. Dubois was out for seven games after the trade to complete a 14-day quarantine required by Canada regulations on COVID-19 for anyone entering the country from the United States. He's been the center on a line with Kyle Connor and Trevor Lewis, with Mason Appleton also at right wing.
