Giroux attempts to extend hot streak

Claude Giroux will try to extend his point streak to five games when the Ottawa Senators (23-23-3) visit the Montreal Canadiens (7 p.m. ET; TSN2, RDS, TSN5, ESPN+, SN NOW). The 35-year-old forward was named NHL First Star of the Week on Monday after having seven points (four goals, three assists) in three games, each one a multipoint outing. He had a goal and an assist in a 2-1 victory against the New York Islanders on Jan. 25, did the same in a 6-2 victory against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Jan. 27 and then had three points (two goals, one assist) in a 5-0 win against the Canadiens on Jan. 28, his 65th three-point game in the NHL. Giroux is averaging almost a point per game in his first season with the Senators; he has 47 (19 goals, 28 assists) in 49 games and is the catalyst on a newly-constructed line with Alex DeBrincat (one goal) and rookie
Ridly Greig
(one assist) that combined for five points against Montreal on Saturday. This will be the final game for the Canadiens (20-26-4) until Feb. 11, and they're hoping the time off will be beneficial for injured forwards Sean Monahan (foot), Jonathan Drouin (upper body) and Joel Armia (upper body), who are all close to returning. -- Mike Zeisberger, staff writer
