The NHL postponed nine games Friday, eight of them due to attendance restrictions in Canadian cities because of COVID-19 concerns.

Those games include a four-game road trip for the New York Islanders: at the Seattle Kraken on Tuesday, at the Vancouver Canucks on Wednesday, at the Edmonton Oilers on Jan. 8, and at the Calgary Flames on Jan. 11. The game at Seattle was postponed due to the other three postponements.
The games will be rescheduled for later in the season when restrictions may be eased or lifted.
There have been 90 NHL games postponed this season.
The five other games postponed Friday were: the Minnesota Wild at the Ottawa Senators on Monday; Minnesota at Edmonton on Jan. 12; the Vegas Golden Knights at Edmonton on Jan. 14; Vegas at Calgary on Jan. 15; and Edmonton at the Winnipeg Jets on Jan. 16.
On Thursday, the NHL postponed the Dallas Stars at Arizona Coyotes game scheduled for Sunday due to issues related to COVID-19 affecting each team.
