The long-awaited 2020-21 NHL schedule has arrived and it's an occasion so special, no ordinary news dump would do.
Several NHL teams flexed their creative muscles to announce their respective regular season schedules through fun videos. The Vegas Golden Knights had goalie Marc-Andre Fleury, forward Jonathan Marchessault and defenseman Alec Martinez do the honors with a little green screen magic.
The Montreal Canadiens brought in Elise Beliveau to get Bell Centre ready to go by packing player spaghetti lunches and doing a little cleaning. "Oh my gosh," she said in French. "Oh, is it ever looking good in here. Well you can come on home now, boys."
The Winnipeg Jets put together a beautiful animation using hockey equipment to signify each of the teams in the North Division. They used gloves, socks, gloves, pads, skates and sticks to make flames for Calgary, the CN Tower and Rogers Centre in Toronto, Parliament Hill in Ottawa, an oil rig for Edmonton, and mountains for Vancouver.
The Detroit Red Wings also used various symbols from around the house to represent their opponents, including a Hurricane cocktail and star sugar cookies, but brace yourself for a mulleted Florida Panther forward Aleksander Barkov.
Speaking of the Panthers, their mascot, Stanley C. Panther hasn't fallen off from his workout routine during the offseason. The shredded cougar's day at the beach kept getting interrupted by various messages from other team's mascots.
And the defending Stanley Cup Champion Tampa Bay Lightning threw it back to MySpace and made a few adjustments to their Top 8, keeping a spot for Tom, of course.
