The Tampa Bay Lightning forward is facing discipline for boarding Columbus Blue Jackets defenseman Markus Nutivaara in the third period of Game 2 of the Eastern Conference First Round.
The incident occurred with 4:26 remaining in the Lightning's 5-1 loss. Kucherov received a minor penalty for tripping, a major penalty for boarding, and a game misconduct.
Kucherov led the NHL with 128 points (41 goals, 87 assists) this season. Tampa Bay trails the best-of-7 playoff series 2-0 with Game 3 at Columbus on Sunday. He does not have a point in the two games.
The following grounds are being considered for supplemental discipline: boarding. However, the Department of Player Safety retains the right to make adjustments to the infraction upon review.
