Philadelphia Flyers forward
Nolan Patrick
has an infection in his face that has kept him off the ice the past two days.
Patrick, the No. 2 pick of the 2017 NHL Draft, had abdominal surgery to repair a sports hernia June 13. He was expected to need 4-6 weeks to recover.
Patrick signed his entry-level contract Monday, at which time the Flyers announced that he was expected to start skating in the next week.

The surgery kept him off the ice during Flyers development camp July 7-12. He also is scheduled to attend the World Junior Summer Showcase for Canada in Plymouth, Michigan, which runs from July 28-Aug. 5 but will not skate there. The camp is part of the process for picking teams for the 2018 IIHF World Junior Championship.
