The Oilers honored their longtime assistant equipment manager, who died Oct. 26, 2020, ahead of their season opener against the Vancouver Canucks.
The Oilers have been celebrating Moss, who had Down syndrome and worked with the team starting in 1984 until he passed away in the fall at 57. The Oilers recognized Moss and former coach John Muckler, who died earlier this month, with an obituary and a moment of silence.
They capped the touching ceremony by airing images of Moss' life with the Oilers as Robert Clark sang "O Canada."
Each Oilers player also sported the name "Moss" on the back of his jersey during warmups ahead of their first game at Rogers Place to honor him. Oilers goalie Mike Smith
also unveiled a mask
with his name "Joey" on the back on Tuesday.
