Blake Wheeler had three assists for Winnipeg. Patrik Laine, the No. 2 pick in the 2016 NHL Draft, had one shot playing 13:57 in his first NHL game. Adam Lowry, Joel Armia and Tobias Enstrom scored to give the Jets a 3-0 lead. Kyle Connor also scored, and Michael Hutchinson made 33 saves. Edmonton goalie Cam Talbot allowed five goals on 21 shots. Oskar Klefbom scored a second-period goal. Jets defenseman Dustin Byfuglien left the game in the second period for precautionary reasons, according to the Winnipeg Sun.
