Connor McDavid and Darnell Nurse had to see the World's Longest Hockey Game in person to believe it.

The Edmonton Oilers captain and defenseman made an impromptu appearance at Saiker's Acers in Sherwood Park, Alberta to support the 40 players during Day 4 of the 10-day game.
The game, which the players are hoping breaks the Guinness World Record for longest marathon hockey game, is being played 10 miles east of Edmonton on the property of Edmonton optometrist Dr. Brent Saik. McDavid and Nurse popped over to support the players but stayed around to talk with them, sign autographs and pose for pictures.

"What they're doing is pretty remarkable," McDavid said. "To see it first-hand is even better. They're four days in; I can't imagine what that would be like."
Saik and Co. have played record-breaking marathon games five previous times, with the first going 82 hours in 2003. The group has raised more than $3 million through the previous five games. They will surpass the record of 250 hours, three minutes and 20 seconds that they set in the same location on Feb. 16, 2015, on Monday.

Besides setting the longest-game record, the goal of the game this year is to raise $2 million for help Alberta Cancer Foundation start a PROFYLE program with a the Cross Cancer Institute. PROFYLE is a program that gives children, adolescents and young adults who are out of conventional treatment options another chance to beat their cancer by documenting and sharing a molecular profile of their tumors.
"It's amazing what they're doing and the money they're raising," McDavid said.
