Ekman-Larsson got tangled with Sharks forward Mikkel Boedker early in overtime and needed help leaving the ice. He is expected to be re-evaluated on Sunday.
"It's too early (to know)," coach Rick Tocchet told the Coyotes website when asked about the severity of Ekman-Larsson's injury. "It's a guessing thing until they see him [Sunday]."
Ekman-Larsson, 26, had 12 goals and 27 assists in 79 games with the Coyotes last season. He led them with an average of 24:36 of ice time per game.
