Senators grant goalie Craig Anderson leave of absence

OTTAWA -- Ottawa Senators goaltender Craig Anderson has been given an indefinite leave of absence to deal with a personal matter, general manager Pierre Dorion said Thursday.
The Senators recalled Chris Driedger from Binghamton of the American Hockey League to back up Andrew Hammond.

"With the support of the entire organization, we've provided Craig with a leave of absence so that he can attend to a personal matter at home," Dorion said. "While we are uncertain of how long Craig may be away, he will continue to have our support for as much time as is needed. We will respect his privacy and will have no further comment at this time."
Anderson missed about a week of training camp after he was excused to deal with a personal issue.
He made 22 saves in a 3-0 road victory against the Vancouver Canucks on Tuesday. Anderson is 4-1-0 with a 2.94 goals against average and a .903 save percentage this season.

Driedger, 22, had a strong training camp and was 1-0-1 with an 0.96 goals against average and .961 save percentage in two games with Binghamton this season.
Hammond lost his only start this season, 5-1 to the Detroit Red Wings at Joe Louis Arena on Oct. 17. He made 20 saves and has a save percentage of .800.
The Senators play the second game of their eight-day, three-game road trip against the Calgary Flames on Friday (9 p.m. ET; RDS2, TSN5, SNF, NHL.TV).
