PHILADELPHIA -- The Ottawa Senators handed the Philadelphia Flyers their fourth straight loss with a 4-3 shootout win at Wells Fargo Center on Saturday.
Mike Hoffman scored the winner in the sixth round of the tiebreaker. He carried the puck into the slot, deked Flyers goalie Michal Neuvirth to the ice and reached around him to poke the puck in. It was the move made famous by Hockey Hall of Famer Peter Forsberg.

Hoffman said it's the second time he's tried the move in a game and each was successful.
"Last year in the (Stanley Cup) Playoffs was one and tonight here was two," he said. "Some moves work, some don't. If you don't try them you never know."
Flyers forward Nolan Patrick tied the game 3-3 when he scored with three seconds left in the third period. Craig Anderson stopped Shayne Gostisbehere's point shot, but Patrick pulled the rebound out of traffic in front.
"We tried our best to block shots and tie up in front, but those goals are going to happen late," Anderson said. "I've always been a believer in, it's not what happens to you, it's how you respond. We came out strong in the overtime, had a couple good scoring chances, weren't able to connect. Then when it gets to the shootout, just start flipping coins."

Matt Duchene, Derick Brassard and Christopher DiDomenico scored for Ottawa (17-24-9). Craig Anderson made 33 saves and did not allow a goal in six shootout attempts.
The Senators have won consecutive games for the first time since Jan. 5-6; they defeated the Anaheim Ducks 2-1 in overtime Thursday.
Sean Couturier and Scott Laughton scored for Philadelphia (24-19-8), and Travis Konecny had his first three-assist game in the NHL. Michal Neuvirth made six saves after replacing Alex Lyon at the start of the third period. Lyon made 20 saves on 23 shots.
Duchene gave the Senators a 1-0 lead at 10:53 of the first period. He took a pass from Hoffman, cut around Scott Laughton on his drive to the net and roofed a shot from in close.

Brassard made it 2-0 when he stuffed a rebound between Lyon's skate and the post at 11:32 to end an eight-game goal drought.
Couturier scored at 3:53 of the second period to make it 2-1. Anderson slid too far out of the net to play the rebound of Konecny's shot, giving Couturier an open net when he got a pass from Radko Gudas.
The Senators took a 3-1 lead at 13:02 when DiDomenico finished a 2-on-1 with Ryan Dzingel that started when Flyers forward Claude Giroux fell at the Senators blue line and lost the puck.
Duchene scored with three seconds remaining in the second, but the goal was overturned after a coach's challenge by the Flyers that determined the play was offside.
Philadelphia got within 3-2 on Laughton's goal. He was in front of Anderson and redirected Brandon Manning's shot.

The Flyers outshot the Senators 16-3 in the third period.
"Second and third (periods) we played pretty well, pretty good hockey, pretty aggressive, won a lot of battles," Couturier said. "But then again we need to play a 60-minute game to earn those two points and tonight the first 20 was questionable. We battled hard to get a big point but it would be nice to get two."

They said it

"Was one of those nights where I was feeling pretty good with the shootout, being patient, not moving too much. They missed the net on the second one. You need a little bit of luck sometimes with those. I've been in there when you can't stop anything. Every night is something new."-- Senators goaltender Craig Anderson
"I don't think we played our game in the first period. We were sitting back a little bit and watching what was going to happen. Second and third were better." -- Flyers forward Claude Giroux
