Carrier, Karlsson score to lift Golden Knights to win

LAS VEGAS --The Vegas Golden Knights handed the Ottawa Senators their 11th loss in 13 games with a 4-1 victory at T-Mobile Arena on Wednesday.

Mark Stone scored for the fourth consecutive game, Jack Eichel had a goal and an assist, and Logan Thompson made 39 saves for Vegas (16-4-1), which is 3-0-1 in its past four games and is in first place in the Western Conference.
"I like where we are at the break at Thanksgiving. Things can change, but we put ourselves in a really good spot," Golden Knights coach Bruce Cassidy said. "Tonight, we found ways to win and get to our game. Bend but not break at certain times. Timely goals and timely saves make a big difference."

OTT@VGK: Stone buries power-play goal from hash marks

Jake Sanderson scored his first NHL goal, and Cam Talbot made 32 saves for Ottawa (6-12-1), which is 2-10-1 in its past 13.
"Disappointing," Senators coach D.J. Smith said. "We hung right with them wire to wire. I don't know what the chances were, their goalie was really good. Probably too many penalties. We worked hard. We tried everything we could, we just couldn't score."
Stone gave the Golden Knights a 1-0 lead at 17:02 of the first period with a power-play goal from the right hash marks.
Sanderson tied it 1-1 at 19:42 when his wrist shot from the right point trickled under Thompson after deflecting off the stick of Shea Theodore during a power play.
"It'll be the first of many," Smith said. "He played lots of minutes (22:41). He was our best defenseman tonight. He is most nights."
William Carrier put the Golden Knights back in front 2-1 at 16:23 of the second period, chipping a shot blocker side on Talbot after he skated through Senators defensemen Lassi Thomson and Nick Holden.

Carrier has scored seven goals in 20 games this season, two shy of his career high he set in 63 games last season.
"A little bit of black out. I have to recheck it," Carrier said of the goal. "We've been hot right now. Confidence is high. Our line is playing pretty well right now. Find a little bit of a hole, stiff arm and get to the net.
"Before, the first couple of years, they were asking for a different role. Here, coach has me doing a little more. … I'm hot right now. I'm just going to take it."

OTT@VGK: Karlsson spins and scores sensational goal

William Karlsson pushed it to 3-1 at 2:39 of the third period. He knocked a down a stretch pass from Alex Pietrangelo, spun past Thomson, and roofed a backhand from the left face-off dot.
"[Karlsson] had to steal my highlight with his own highlight," Carrier joked. "I might not make it to the clips here tonight. … 'Karly's' was nice. That backhand is (Sidney) Crosby category."
Eichel scored an empty-net goal to make it 4-1 at 18:19.
NOTES:Pietrangelo was playing in his 900th NHL game. … Stone has six points (five goals, one assist) in his past four games. … Sanderson was playing in his 19th NHL game.
