The Florida Panthers forward batted home a rebound from midair for the game-tying goal late in the third period against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Tuesday.
Trailing 3-2 late in the third, Hornqvist first tipped Aaron Ekblad's initial shot that Joonas Korpisalo stopped then smacked home the rebound, tying the score at 19:57.
It was the second-latest, game-tying goal in Panthers history, and Hornqvist became the first player in Florida history to score a goal in each of the team's first three games.
Hornqvist's goal also impressed his opponents.
"Hornqvist made a hell of a play," Blue Jackets forward Cam Atkinson said after the game. "Sometimes you've got to tip your cap. Batting it out of the air, what are the chances of that happening? Obviously he's a very good player."
Hornqvist's goal forced overtime, then he hurt Columbus again by scoring the game-deciding goal in Florida's 4-3 shootout win.
