The Florida Panthers will get their revenge on the Colorado Avalanche 26 years later in a rematch of the Stanley Cup Final, according to EA SPORTS NHL 22 Stanley Cup Playoffs simulation.

The Cup will be staying in Florida, but relocating about 300 miles south, with the Panthers winning their first NHL championship in a rematch of the 1996 Final, won by the Avalanche in four games.
The Panthers, who won the Presidents' Trophy during the regular season with team records for wins (58) and points (122), defeated the Avalanche in six games in the simulation. They eliminated the Washington Capitals in five games in the Eastern Conference First Round, the Toronto Maple Leafs in six games in the second round and the Boston Bruins in six games in the Eastern Conference Final.

The Avalanche, who finished with the best record in the Western Conference, swept the Nashville Predators in the first round, took out the Minnesota Wild in five games in the second round and defeated the Calgary Flames in seven games to advance to the Final.
Panthers center Aleksander Barkov won the Conn Smythe Trophy as MVP of the playoffs.
The two-time defending champion Tampa Bay Lightning lost the first round in six games to the Maple Leafs.
The first round had two upsets based on seeding. The Bruins defeated the Carolina Hurricanes, and the Pittsburgh Penguins eliminated the New York Rangers, each in seven games.
Last season, the simulation had the Bruins defeating the Vegas Golden Knights in the Cup Final. The Bruins lost the Stanley Cup Second Round in six games to the New York Islanders and the Golden Knights were eliminated by Montreal Canadiens in six games in the Stanley Cup Semifinals.
Montreal lost to Tampa Bay in five games in the final.
