Key moment, Game 6: Patric Hornqvist scores winning goal for Penguins

NASHVILLE -- The Pittsburgh Penguins won the Stanley Cup for a second year in a row, getting the decisive goal by forward Patric Hornqvist late in the third period and defeating the Nashville Predators 2-0 in Game 6 of the Final at Bridgestone Arena on Sunday.
After 30 goals were scored in the first five games of the series, there were no goals Sunday until the Penguins finally broke through at 18:25 of the third.

Predators defenseman Ryan Ellis dumps the puck behind his net, but his partner, Roman Josi, is not there. Instead, Penguins forward Chris Kunitz gets to it first in the corner and skates up the boards toward the blue line. Predators forward Craig Smith lunges toward Kunitz, who passes the puck to defenseman Justin Schultz on the blue line before heading to the bench for a change.

Schultz takes the pass on his backhand and moves toward the middle of the ice to get into better shooting position. Instead of taking a big slap shot, Schultz takes a wrist shot that gets past Predators forward Viktor Arvidsson, who is in the slot and tries to block it by kicking out his left leg but just misses the puck. Ellis also tries to block the shot by extending his left leg, but narrowly misses it.

Schultz's shot misses the net to the left of Predators goaltender Pekka Rinne and hits the end boards just as Hornqvist skates through the crease. The puck bounces back toward the crease and, with Rinne scrambling to cover his post and Ellis trying to get back to cover the net, Hornqvist banks a shot from behind the goal line off Rinne and into the net.
When asked if he realized how close his shot came to getting blocked, Schultz said: "Nope. I just remember putting [the puck] down there and watching [Hornqvist]. I couldn't see the puck and I was just watching him and saw him put his arms up. It was crazy."
