Elias Hughes

Patrik Elias is passing the torch to Jack Hughes.

Elias created a special video message congratulating the New Jersey Devils forward on breaking the franchise single-season points record on Tuesday.
"Well, Jack, I guess I shouldn't have sent you that text to get it going and that you had only five games left with six points to go," Elias said in a video posted by the Devils on Twitter. "But you proved again how good of a player you are, and it's well deserved. This is a great accomplishment and I'm sure it's not the end of it for you."

Hughes
scored his 97th point of the season
on an empty net goal in the Devils 6-2 win against the Buffalo Sabres.
Elias previously held the franchise record of 96 points which he recorded during the 2000-01 season.
Jack wasn't the only Hughes family memeber that had a milestone night.
His brother, Luke, made his NHL debut after signing a three-year entry level contract with the Devils on Sunday.

After the game, Jack joked that Luke got a bigger ovation than he did in his Devils debut.

The more Hughes brothers in New Jersey, the merrier.
