Terry hat trick lifts Ducks over Flyers

ANAHEIM --Troy Terry had his first NHL hat trick for the Anaheim Ducks in a 4-1 win against the Philadelphia Flyers at Honda Center on Tuesday.

Sonny Milano scored, Jamie Drysdale had two assists, and John Gibson made 28 saves for the Ducks (18-11-7), who had not won in four games (0-2-2).
Terry scored his third goal into an empty net on a power play with 49 seconds left for the 4-1 final.
Terry, who had a 16-game point streak (12 goals, 10 assists) from Oct. 18-Nov. 18, third-longest in team history, had one assist in the first three games following Christmas.
"I just didn't feel like I was skating like myself, attacking defensemen and doing that type of stuff," Terry said. "I needed to get back to it."

Cam Atkinson scored, and Carter Hart made 26 saves for the Flyers (13-14-6), who went 1-2-1 on their four-game West Coast trip.
"When you're looking at the results, that's not good," Flyers coach Mike Yeo said. "Unfortunately, we're in a position where you're chasing everybody."
The Ducks took a 1-0 lead when Terry tipped in a one-timer from defenseman Hampus Lindholm at 3:21 of the first period.
Play did not immediately stop because the puck hit an interior post and banked out, but the goal was eventually reviewed and awarded to Terry.
"I didn't even mean to," Terry said of the deflection. "It just kind of went off my stick."
Terry skated ahead of the Philadelphia defense and scored his 20th goal of the season at 9:41 to make it 2-0.
"I've really just been trying to move my feet in the first periods, and just kind of get them under me and get going," Terry said. "I was able to get a step on [the defense] and, luckily, I was able to finish that one too."
Atkinson redirected a pass by Joel Farabee to bring the Flyers within 2-1 at 18:42.
"It's really difficult to sit here and say, 'Oh, we did this well or we did that well.'" Yeo said. "The bottom line is we need to grind some points out. We've got to stay with the pack."
Anaheim went on a power play when Morgan Frost was called for goalie interference, and Milano scored off a feed from Sam Steel to make it 3-1 at 17:49 of the second.

The Flyers challenged for goaltender interference on Vinni Lettieri, but the goal was confirmed on video review and the Ducks went back on the power play for the delay of game.
Yeo decided to pull Hart at the start of a 4-on-4 with 4:11 remaining. The Flyers kept the puck in the Anaheim zone for nearly two minutes before the Ducks got the puck out and drew a tripping penalty with 2:18 left.
"That was a long one," Gibson said. "We did a good job protecting the middle and [Josh Manson] had a few big blocks and I had to make a save when I was called on."
Philadelphia defenseman Ivan Provorov missed his first NHL game (COVID-19 protocol) after playing in 403 straight, ending the NHL's fourth-longest active streak and the longest by a defenseman for a single team to start his NHL career.
