Flyers rebound after blowing late lead to Ducks

ANAHEIM -- Nolan Patrick had a goal and an assist for the Philadelphia Flyers in a 3-2 win against the Anaheim Ducks at Honda Center on Tuesday.

Pontus Aberg tied it 2-2 with a power-play goal at 17:48 of the third period, but Patrick scored 21 seconds later on a one-timer from the slot to give the Flyers a 3-2 lead.
"That's as high and low as you get in a matter of seconds," Ducks forward Ryan Getzlaf said.

Sean Couturier and Ivan Provorov scored, Claude Giroux had two assists, and Brian Elliott made 23 saves for Philadelphia (5-7-0), which had lost three straight.
It was Philadelphia's first regulation win against Anaheim since Feb. 2, 2008.
"Our guys played hard right from the drop of the puck and all the way through," Flyers coach Dave Hakstol said. "It's a heavy team to play against. You always know what you're in for when you walk into this building. Our guys were up for it and did a good job."

Aberg scored two goals for the second straight game, and Ryan Miller made 33 saves for Anaheim (5-6-2), which has lost six in a row.
"If we don't believe that we can turn things around, then it's not going to happen," Ducks defenseman Cam Fowler said.
Couturier gave Philadelphia a 1-0 lead with a power-play goal at 3:07 of the first period, redirecting a pass from Giroux in the slot.
"We're way too far into the season to be scoring the first goal of the season for just the second time," Hakstol said. "It was nice to get the first goal, a nice goal that got us off to a good start, and that's critical."

Aberg tied it 1-1 at 1:45 of the second period, beating Elliott glove side from the right face-off circle. It was his seventh game with the Ducks since they claimed him off waivers from the Edmonton Oilers on Oct. 1.
Aberg is the first Anaheim player with consecutive multigoal games since Daniel Winnik did it from Jan. 19-21, 2013.
"He's getting an opportunity to play with our best players," Ducks coach Randy Carlyle said. "He's a guy, historically, that's been able to provide offense at every level he's played."
Provorov gave Philadelphia a 2-1 lead at 8:57 of the second period with his first goal of the season. Giroux skated to the middle of the point and sent a wrist shot toward the net that deflected off Provorov's right leg past Miller.
"Yeah, we played a good game," Couturier said. "We controlled the puck a lot, created a lot of chances, but I thought we did a good job defensively coming back in the slot there and not giving up the second chances."

Giroux played in his in 750th NHL game. He has 16 points (two goals, 14 assists) in 16 games against the Ducks. ... Anaheim hadn't lost six in a row since it went 0-6-1 from Nov. 13-27, 2011. … Ducks defenseman Josh Manson missed the game with an upper-body injury. ... Anaheim recalled defenseman Marcus Pettersson from San Diego of the American Hockey League. Pettersson played the first 11 games with the Ducks before he was sent down on Sunday. Anaheim forward Kiefer Sherwood was sent down to San Diego.
