Philadelphia was off Thursday, practiced Friday and will practice again Saturday as part of
what general manager Chuck Fletcher called
, "a massive week to get our house in order."
That includes fixing an offense that has averaged 1.64 goals per game and is 2-for-36 on the power play (5.6 percent) in the past 11 games.
"Our power play needs to step up," Giroux said. "We've lost multiple games this year because the power play couldn't step up for us. It starts with me, I'm the one who has the puck most of the time on the power play, so I've got to make better plays."
Giroux leads the Flyers with 18 points (seven goals, 11 assists) in 21 games; no other player has more than 14 points.
Philadelphia also has dealt with injuries to key players. Second-line center Kevin Hayes played in a 4-1 loss at the New York Rangers on Wednesday. He had been out six games with an abdominal injury related to surgery he had Sept. 21 that kept him out the first 12 games of the season.
Defenseman Ryan Ellis has missed 17 of 18 games with a lower-body injury and is week to week. Forward Joel Farabee, who is tied with Giroux and forward Cam Atkinson for the Flyers lead with seven goals, is week to week because of a shoulder injury sustained in the first period Wednesday.
Centers Derick Brassard (hip), Patrick Brown (thumb) and Nate Thompson (shoulder) also are out.
"I'd really like to see what we have before we start making changes," Fletcher said Tuesday. "I don't feel like I've been able to see that to this point in time. But we're always looking, I'm talking to teams every day. If there's ways to make us better, we'll look at it."
