PHI@DAL: Hintz buries a beautiful pass from Gurianov

DALLAS -- The Dallas Stars won for the first time in regulation this season, 5-2 against the Philadelphia Flyers at the American Airlines Center on Saturday.

Dallas (5-6-2) had won three games in overtime and one in a shootout.
"It's one [game]," Stars forward Joe Pavelski said. "We understand we can't get it all back in a week. We just have to keep going out there and focus on what we are doing day to day."
Roope Hintz and Luke Glendening each had a goal and an assist, and Anton Khudobin made 31 saves for the Stars, who were 1-4-2 in the past seven games.
"You don't want to have 60 shots [against] every game," Khudobin said. "It's the bottom line. But if you are, then what else do you have to do? You have to go and stop every shot. If there's 20 shots, great. It's kind of your night off."

James van Riemsdyk and Ivan Provorov scored, and Martin Jones made 26 saves for the Flyers (7-4-2).
"I thought we came to play," Philadelphia coach Alain Vigneault said. "We had some Grade-A looks, should have been able to capitalize on a few of those looks."
Glendening tipped a John Klingberg shot from the point to give the Stars a 1-0 lead at 13:23 of the first period.
"It was a game that challenged us again early," Pavelski said. "I got off to a bad start taking a couple of penalties and putting the guys in a tough spot, but the [penalty] killers did a tremendous job. We get the lead, and [Khudobin] was awesome in the first. It was good and it allowed us to get our game going."

PHI@DAL: Pavelski scores PPG in 3rd period

Hintz extended the lead to 2-0, knocking in a rebound of a Denis Gurianov shot past a sprawling Jones at 12:22 of the second period.
"Look at Roope," Dallas coach Rick Bowness said. "He's had more breakaways and more goal posts and more crossbars than anybody, and the last two goals he's tapped them in in the crease. It shows you've got to get those greasy goals."
Van Riemsdyk made it 2-1 at 16:36 when he was credited with a goal that was put in by Glendening during a net-front scramble.
"We knew it was going to be a hard game," Provorov said. "Sometimes that happens where it's a game where you're going to outplay your opponent and they're going to come out winning at the end of the period. I think we just got away from our game in the second and that's what hurt us."
Tyler Seguin deflected a Jacob Peterson shot as he drove to the front of the net 26 seconds later to increase the lead to 3-1 at 17:02.
"In the second period, we didn't manage the puck as well as we did in that first period, which gave them counterattack opportunities," Vigneault said. "They had some good chances in the first, [Jones] had to come up big on a few of those. But I thought for the most part we carried most of the play."

Pavelski scored on a rebound of a Hintz shot on a power play at 2:27 of the third period to extend the lead to 4-1.
Provorov brought the Flyers within 4-2 with a power-play goal on a slap shot from the blue line at 8:07.
"I thought our second [power-play] unit, especially the first two [opportunities] in the first period, we were throwing great looks, great chances," Flyers defenseman Ryan Ellis said. "All-in-all, for our unit tonight, we moved the puck really well and had some dangerous chances."
Radek Faksa scored into an empty net at 17:57 for the 5-2 final.
