SUNRISE, Fla. -- Garnet Hathaway scored with 22 seconds remaining, and the Philadelphia Flyers ended the Florida Panthers' six-game winning streak with a 2-1 victory at Amerant Bank Arena on Thursday.

Hathaway tucked in the rebound of Marc Staal's point shot at the left post.

“It reinforces the belief within this room, with the guys playing,” Hathaway said. “They know if we step up and play our best game and the guy next to you plays his best game, we can play with anyone on any night.”

Ryan Poehling also scored, and Samuel Ersson made 29 saves for the Flyers (33-23-8), who are 2-0-1 in their past three games.

“We have done a great job as a team. (We) know how tough these games are," Ersson said. “You see how hard we work, how much energy we spend. We were rewarded for it."

Gustav Forsling scored, and Sergei Bobrovsky made 24 saves for the Panthers (43-17-4), who hadn't lost at home since Feb. 6, when the Flyers also defeated them 2-1 (had won previous six).

“I don’t think too many teams have come in here the past month and won two,” Philadelphia coach John Tortorella said. “We play hard. Ersson was really good, gave us a chance at certain parts of the game. We do a lot of things that we screw up, but we play hard. That’s how we’re going to have to go about it to remain competitive.”

Vladimir Tarasenko made his Panthers debut after being acquired in a trade with the Ottawa Senators on Wednesday. He played on the top line with Aleksander Barkov and Sam Reinhart and had two shots in 15:09 of ice time.

“There was not going to be a lot of easy for us," Florida coach Paul Maurice said. “It did not look like we had a lot in the tank. They played hard, and we matched that. It was even. We would like to be better than even at home. They got a break at the end that we did not earlier. We will get some rest, come back for the next one."

PHI@FLA: Forsling nets his 10th goal of season in 2nd period

Poehling gave Philadelphia a 1-0 lead 10 seconds into the second period. He skated down the left wing, cut toward the crease, and roofed a shot short side on Bobrovsky.

Forsling tied it 1-1 at 7:12 with a point shot glove side through a screen. The goal came after he signed an eight-year contract earlier in the day.

“It’s hard to put into words how grateful I am for everything this organization has done for me,” Forsling said. “I remember the day I got the call saying [Florida] picked me off waivers (from the Carolina Hurricanes). I am just grateful.”

NOTE: Bobrovsky has allowed two goals or fewer in 12 straight starts, tying Martin Brodeur (2010-11) and Jacques Plante (1970-71) for the longest stretch by a goaltender age 35 or older in NHL history.
