"It was nice to get an early [goal]," Lindblom said. "We played very well in the [offensive] zone, and Stolarz was a monster back there, so it was a good game for us."
Stolarz is 3-3-2 with a 3.44 goals-against average and .896 save percentage in 10 games (eight starts) for the Flyers this season. He did not play in the NHL in 2017-18 after he had surgery on his left knee to repair a meniscus tear Sept. 7, 2017, less than five months after a knee injury ended his season for Lehigh Valley of the American Hockey League.
"I've always dreamt of playing in the NHL, so to be able to come back from an injury like that and keep playing, you're going to want to keep going, so for me it's games like this that make it all worth it," he said. "You just want to go out there and focus on the next shot, that next save. ... Obviously with goaltending, there's a lot of pressure, but you don't want to put any added on yourself, so for me, I kind of just went out there, tried to do my job."
Stolarz made a left-pad save on Chris Kreider's shot from the slot at 13:55 of the second period with the Rangers on the power play.
"He played well," New York center Kevin Hayes said of Stolarz. "We had some really good opportunities. We didn't give them much actually. They scored early in the first and maybe had one or two good looks after that. I thought we played well as a team and obviously we didn't score, and when you don't score you can't win."
The Rangers had 66 shot attempts; the Flyers had 30.
