The defenseman was injured during a 4-1 loss at the New York Rangers on Friday, Flyers coach Alain Vigneault said. He played 20:17 and was on the ice when the game ended. He has scored 16 points (eight goals, eight assists) and is averaging 19:59 of ice time in 37 games this season.
Gostisbehere did not play in Philadelphia's 4-3 shootout win against the New Jersey Devils on Sunday. Samuel Morin played on the third defense pair with Philippe Myers.
Vigneault said Sunday that he and general manager Chuck Fletcher have also discussed the possibility of defenseman prospects

Egor Zamula
playing in one of Philadelphia's final nine games.
York has played three games for Lehigh Valley of the American Hockey League since signing a three-year, entry-level contract March 31. The 20-year-old scored 20 points (four goals, 16 assists) in 24 games for the University of Michigan this season.
Zamula was recalled to the taxi squad Sunday after he had five assists in 17 AHL games. The 21-year-old was with the Flyers during the Stanley Cup Playoffs last season but did not play.
"We're going to be working on winning some games, and we start that tonight," Vigneault said. "And if we get the opportunity to get a look at a couple of guys, we're probably going to do that also moving forward."
Flyers goalie Carter Hart is still feeling pain from a sprained knee and was unavailable Sunday. Hart hasn't played since making 31 saves in a 2-1 shootout win against the Pittsburgh Penguins on April 15.
"It's just taking a little longer than we expected," Vigneault said. "I know Carter wants to get back to playing with his teammates, but he feels still a little bit of discomfort. We've had four different doctors take a look at the MRI, they all say the same thing, that it's a mild sprain. Usually a mild sprain doesn't take more than 7-10 days but Carter still feeling a little bit of discomfort, and we're just being a little bit cautious there. ... He wants to get back and help out his teammates, but we'll see here in the next couple of days how he feels, and hopefully he can get the green light to get back skating and playing with his teammates."
Hart is 9-11-5 with a 3.67 goals-against average, .877 save percentage and one shutout in 27 games (25 starts). Brian Elliott made 29 saves against the Devils, and Alex Lyon was the backup.
The Flyers (22-19-7) are sixth in the MassMutual East Division, nine points behind the fourth-place Boston Bruins. The top four teams will qualify for the playoffs.
