The Flyers received a third-round pick in the 2023 NHL Draft for the defenseman.
"They're a good team," Braun told TSN about the Rangers. "We were playing them a lot the last couple of years. They're good defensively, they got those offensive weapons. Their goaltenders are pretty impressive too, so they have a pretty good group there."
Braun is in the final season of a two-year, $3.6 million contract ($1.8 million average annual value) he signed with the Flyers on Oct. 5, 2020. He can become an unrestricted free agent after the season.
The 35-year-old has scored 16 points (five goals, 11 assists) in 61 games this season. Selected by the San Jose Sharks in the seventh round (No. 201) of the 2007 NHL Draft, Braun has scored 195 points (33 goals, 162 assists) in 783 regular-season games for the Flyers and Sharks and 15 points (three goals, 12 assists) in 100 Stanley Cup Playoff games.
"We've got a good group, a mix of veterans and some younger guys, and [we're] excited to have him on the right side for us," Rangers general manager Chris Drury said of Braun.
The Rangers (40-18-5) are tied with the Pittsburgh Penguins for second in the Metropolitan Division, three points behind the first-place Carolina Hurricanes. New York defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning (2-1) and Carolina (2-0) in back-to-back games Saturday and Sunday.
Braun said he's excited for the opportunity to play in the Stanley Cup Playoffs again.
"Yeah, for sure," he said. "I was fortunate enough in my early years to be with San Jose and you kind of almost took it for granted year in and year out to be in that situation where you're going to the playoffs every year and to be back, getting that chance to be playing playoff games again, I'm super excited for it."
Also Monday, New York acquired forward Andrew Copp from the Winnipeg Jets for three NHL Draft picks and forward Morgan Barron; forward Tyler Motte from the Vancouver Canucks for a fourth-round pick in the 2023 draft; and forward Nick Merkley from the San Jose Sharks for defenseman Anthony Bitetto.
Forward Frank Vatrano was acquired by the Rangers from the Florida Panthers on March 16 for a fourth-round pick in the 2022 NHL Draft, the lower pick of New York's selection or Winnipeg's selection previously acquired by the Rangers.
