Couturier, Hart help Flyers snap 10-game losing skid

LAS VEGAS -- The Philadelphia Flyers won for the first time in 11 games, 4-3 against the Vegas Golden Knights at T-Mobile Arena on Friday.

The Flyers won for the first time since Nov. 16 against the Calgary Flames and got their first win in three games under coach Mike Yeo. He replaced Alain Vigneault, who was fired Monday.
"It was a great effort," Yeo said. "When you're going through something that we're going through, the hardest thing is to deal with the emotion. We knew it wasn't going to be perfect, especially against a team like that, a team of that caliber."
Carter Hart made 41 saves for his first win in seven starts for the Flyers (9-12-4) who were 0-8-2 and had lost six in a row in regulation. Max Willman scored his first NHL goal, and Keith Yandle had two assists.
"We're all out there to win," Hart said. "We're doing whatever it takes to win. Sometimes that's what it takes is to lay down in front of the puck, put your body in front and sacrifice your body for the better of the team."

The Golden Knights (15-11-0) had their three-game winning streak end. Max Pacioretty scored twice, and Alex Pietrangelo had two assists. Laurent Brossoit made 21 saves.
The Golden Knights have allowed five power-play goals in the past two games after going 15-for-16 on the penalty kill in their previous four.
"We've got to find ways to kill penalties. We've got to be committed to blocking shots, winning faceoffs, getting the puck 200 feet," said Golden Knights captain Mark Stone. "We've got to be a little more aggressive. Teams are outworking us."
Vegas forward and leading scorer Chandler Stephenson did not play due to personal reasons. Keegan Kolesar started in Stephenson's place at first-line center before being replaced by Nicolas Roy in the second period.
"When we're playing our best, we're a four-line team," Golden Knights coach Peter DeBoer said. "With Stephenson out, we're a little inexperienced up the middle, so we're looking for combinations that can compete with those guys. It was a grind all night."
Kevin Hayes gave the Flyers a 1-0 lead with a 4-on-4 goal at 4:20 of the first period. His backhand attempt on the left side of the crease deflected off Brossoit's stick.
William Karlsson tied it 1-1 at 19:11 of the first with a tap-in off a pass from Jonathan Marchessault. It was his first goal since Oct. 20; he missed 15 games from Nov. 2 - Dec. 3 with a broken foot.
Willman gave the Flyers a 2-1 lead at 5:53 of the second period.
Pacioretty tied it 2-2 at 18:30 on a rebound when Hart kicked Pietrangelo's point shot right to the forward's stick. Pacioretty extended his goal streak to five games and his point streak to seven games (seven goals, four assists) since returning from a broken foot on Nov. 24.

Sean Couturier gave the Flyers back the lead, 3-2, at 3:54 of the third period on the power play.
"I think we just refocused, came with a fresh mindset and battled hard," Couturier said. "We had, I think, better support throughout all three zones and created a few chances off of that."
James van Riemsdyk made it 4-2 on the power play at 9:37.
Pacioretty cut it to 4-3 at 18:15 with a 6-on-4 power-play goal.
The Flyers went 2-for-3 on the power play; the Golden Knights were 1-for-6.
"I think special teams was the difference in the game," Hart said. "Power play had two goals there, and PK we just shut them down all night. That was definitely the difference maker."
