MTL handshake short shifts

The Montreal Canadiens may have lost the Stanley Cup Final, but they made Canada proud.

The proof came right from the fingertips of the Prime Minister.
Justin Trudeau tweeted his appreciation for the Canadiens run to the 2021 Final after their 1-0 Game 5 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning on Wednesday.

What a season for our @CanadiensMTL! You've kept us on the edge of our seats during these playoffs - and we can't wait to see you here again next year. #GoHabsGo" the Prime Minister tweeted following the game.
Trudeau was pleased with the effort, even if he did

to United States President Joe Biden. It was the first time a Canadian team has made the Cup Final since 2011 when the Vancouver Canucks lost to the Boston Bruins. The Canadiens were the last Canadian team to win the Cup, defeating the Los Angeles Kings in 1993.
The Canadiens official team account shared their congratulations with the Lightning, who won their second Cup title in a row.

Canadiens GM Geoff Molson also shared his pride in the team that finished fourth in the North Division during the regular season but made it all the way to the Cup Final.

"Fier de notre équipe…proud of our team! #GHG," Molson tweeted.
