'Quest For The Stanley Cup' continues with remaining 4 teams

The Stanley Cup Playoffs are about creating enduring moments. Or as Carolina Hurricanes coach Rod Brind'Amour calls it in the second episode of "Quest For The Stanley Cup," it's about "stacking memories."

The latest episode puts the focus on the memories made during second-round victories by the Hurricanes, Florida Panthers, Vegas Golden Knights and Dallas Stars.

The show spends time with all four teams as they prepare to create their moments, whether it's Brind'Amour getting in an early morning workout or Golden Knights coach Bruce Cassidy understanding that no matter how hard he works, what happens ultimately comes down to how his players handle the biggest moments.

There's time spent away from the ice with Panthers forward Matthew Tkachuk and defenseman Casey Fitzgerald, cousins who engage in some backyard fun on a day off.

"Casey owns me in mini-putt," Tkachuk said.

There's also some time spent at the home of Joe Pavelski, which includes his wife, Sarah, their son, Nate, and a special tenant this season -- Stars rookie forward Wyatt Johnston.

Johnston, 20, was born in 2003, about a month before Pavelski was drafted in the seventh round (No. 205) by the San Jose Sharks.

"He's been playing in the NHL almost as long as I've been alive," Johnston says.

Joe Pavelski has helped Johnston learn about life on the ice in the NHL, while Sarah Pavelski has taught Johnston in a different way.

"Is there any special way to cut an onion?" he asks. Sarah Pavelski's maternal instinct quickly kicks in to provide another life lesson.

Game 7 between the Stars and Seattle Kraken allows Johnston to stack up another memory, and he'll look to do it again against the Golden Knights in the Western Conference Final, which began at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Friday. The Eastern Conference Final between the Panthers and Hurricanes began Thursday with Tkachuk scoring in the fourth overtime to give Florida a 3-2 win in Game 1 at PNC Arena in Raleigh, North Carolina.

"Now we're just getting started," Stars coach Peter DeBoer said. "Now the fun part starts here."

Episode 2 of "Quest For The Stanley Cup" premieres Friday at 5 p.m. ET on ESPN+ in the United States and YouTube.com/NHL in Canada and abroad. Episodes will also be re-aired on ESPN2.
