Kreider-piano

Maybe Chris Kreider should play the piano before every game.

The New York Rangers forward was captured tickling the ivories in the team hotel before their game against the Philadelphia Flyers on Wednesday. Then he went out and scored a hat trick, bringing his season goal total to eight.
Kreider's piano skills may be news to hockey fans, but they are no secret to his Rangers teammates. It also wasn't the first time he entertained passersby in a Rangers road hotel.
"We've been on the road a couple times where there's been a piano in the hotel, and he can play the piano," Rangers forward Mika Zibanejad said on a
Q&A on Rangers
social media accounts in April. "I did not know that. He can sing, actually. He can sing. That was unexpected, and I didn't believe that was true until I actually heard it."

Kreider has been playing the piano for years, but playing the piano is a somewhat common hobby among NHL players. Washington Capitals forward Tom Wilson is learning how to play alongside his girlfriend Taylor Pischke. New York Islanders forward Leo Komarov was filmed by teammate Andrew Ladd playing in the bubble in 2020. Ottawa Senators forward Matthew Peca also was captured playing the piano during the 2018-19 season.
